York Peppermint Patties Copycat Recipe

York Peppermint Patties Copycat Recipe

Ingredients …

¾ cup sweetened condensed milk
1 ½ -2 teaspoon peppermint extract
4 cups powdered sugar
1 cup chocolate Candy Melts or dipping chocolate * (see note)
Sprinkles if desired

Instructions…

*Line baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside.
*In a medium mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, blend together the sweetened condensed milk, peppermint extract (Start with 1 ½ tsp. peppermint extract and add more to desired taste as needed!) and powdered sugar. Mix at a medium speed for 2-3 minutes or until mixture is smooth with no lumps. Dough will be stiff and form patties, but not dry and crumbly.
*Roll dough into approximately 28 1-inch balls. Flatten with the palm of your hand. Allow to dry at room temperature for at least 2 hours, flipping once after an hour. Place in the refrigerator or freezer for 15-20 minutes.

*Melt chocolate in double boiler. Dip patties into chocolate, tapping on the side to get excess off. Place onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet to cool. Place in the refrigerator for an additional 30 minutes to set.
Note: You can use semi-sweet choc. chips; however, you will need to add 1 tsp. shortening or coconut oil during the melting process.
